Baby Steps

I’ve been away from this site for a very long time. Frankly, it was the loss of Pecos that did me in. He lived such a tragic life before he came to us, and I wanted to show him that life wasn’t as bad as he had experienced early in his life. Sadly, his passing was not peaceful, but was mis-handled by the “experts” and the lack of care (as is, “Meh, I’m not really interested in fighting for this dog.”) from his vet was breathtaking. In short, his last days on this earth were no better than his first days on earth.

I hold myself responsible for that. I should have, could have, done better. I really feel like I let him down.

So, this website went into disrepair. Many times I tried to get it going again, changing the look, swapping out themes and such, but just couldn’t get the gumption up to type words, until today. Why is today any different? No idea. It was just the day I guess.

So, here’s our new crew, Woody, Enzo and Dandy. Woody and Enzo were the first dogs we’ve adopted as puppies. COVID made that possible. Since we were stuck at home we figured we had the time to give to puppies. It worked out great and we have two very happy youngsters that will be with us for many years. Woody is the official “pandemic puppy” as we received him during the lockdown. Unlike many other terrible people out there, we’re not giving him up now that the pandemic is over.

Dandy is the elder dog here, but she’s still going strong. It looks like her kidneys will fail at some point in the future (the common malady of street dogs who ate things they shouldn’t have) but with acupuncture treatments she stays mobile and spunky.
